1. Agreement to terms
By accessing or using Scottish AI Lessons you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the platform.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- If you are under 18, we encourage you to review these terms with a parent or guardian.
- Scottish AI Lessons is designed for students in Scotland preparing for SQA qualifications, but is available to anyone meeting the age requirement.
3. Account responsibilities
- You must provide accurate information when registering.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
- You may only have one account per person.
- You must notify us immediately at support@scottishailessons.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use Scottish AI Lessons only for lawful educational purposes. You must not:
- Share your account credentials with others
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or copy our AI models or lesson content
- Upload harmful, offensive, or illegal content
- Misrepresent AI-generated feedback, scores, or recommendations as official SQA assessments or human teacher evaluations
- Use the platform to gain an unfair advantage in formal examinations
- Attempt to interfere with the operation of the platform
5. AI-generated content disclaimer
Scottish AI Lessons uses artificial intelligence to provide tutoring, assessment feedback, and study recommendations. Please understand:
- AI tutoring is supplementary — it is designed to support, not replace, classroom teaching and human instruction.
- AI responses may contain errors — while we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content should not be treated as infallible.
- Mastery scores are estimates — scores, progress indicators, and recommendations are generated by AI algorithms and are not official SQA assessments or grades.
- Not affiliated with the SQA — Scottish AI Lessons is an independent educational platform. We are not endorsed by, affiliated with, or connected to the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
- We recommend that students verify important information with their teachers and consult official SQA materials for exam preparation.
6. Intellectual property
- Our content: The platform, lessons, user interface, software, and design are owned by Scottish AI Lessons and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
- Your content: You retain ownership of content you create on the platform, including revision notes, drawings, and written responses.
- Licence grant: By using the platform, you grant us a limited licence to process your content solely for the purpose of delivering the educational service (e.g., AI evaluation of your answers).
- SQA curriculum content referenced on this platform is used under fair dealing provisions for educational purposes.
7. Subscription and payments
- Paid subscriptions are processed through Stripe. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time through the account settings page. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis.
8. Service availability
- We aim to keep Scottish AI Lessons available at all times but we do not guarantee 100% uptime.
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice.
- Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- Scottish AI Lessons is not responsible for your exam outcomes or academic results.
- We are not liable for the accuracy of AI-generated advice, feedback, or scores.
- The platform is provided on an “as is” basis.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the subscription fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Scottish law.
10. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with notice where practicable.
- On account deletion, your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
